Memorial for Richard L. Olson, LTC (Ret), age 78, of Cullman, is Monday, February 5, 2024 at 2 pm at Sardis Baptist Church in Trimble.  Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Olson was born April 18, 1945, to Gess Olson and Gladys Simonson Olson .  He passed from this life on January 25, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wanda Shaddix Olson; one son, Richard Lane Olson, Jr. (Crissi); two daughters, Jennifer White (Matt), and Tracy Collins (Jonathan); one sister, Sandra Faye Johnson; grandchildren, Joni Olson, Garrett Olson, Reid Olson, Oleta Olson, Lauren Barnett (Jagger), Ryan White; one great-grandchild, Wyatt Barnett; and a host of family and friends.

Richard was a longtime and faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church and he loved the Lord more than anything.  He was a devout, loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family.  He was very social and had a great sense of humor.  He loved his country and was very patriotic.  He honorably served in the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard for over 32 years.  He was a wonderful man and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
