Nathan Ray Thomas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born on August 31, 1963, in Alabama, where he began a life marked by devotion to family and a steadfast commitment to his loved ones.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 11th, 2026 at Vinemont Christian Church with interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Ministers Tom Thomas and Nathaniel Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be Friday evening at Cullman Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
Nathan’s warmth and kindness touched all who knew him. He built a life of love and support with his cherished wife, Linda, by his side for 41 years. Together, they created a family that was always his pride and joy. Nathan leaves a lasting legacy in his two sons: Nathaniel David (Lindsay) Thomas and Joshua Ray (Rachel) Thomas. Nathan’s grandchildren—Austin, Gregory, and Joseph—were the light of his later years. He delighted in their laughter and accomplishments, and his memory will live on in their lives. Nathan was also survived by his niece and her husband, Katrina (Jason) Woodard.
Nathan was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Arthur David Thomas and Minnie Josephine Blankenship Thomas. Their love and guidance shaped the foundation of his character, values, and unwavering loyalty.
Nathan was a minister of the gospel for 46 years. He wanted to start preaching when he was three years old. He loved people and people loved him. He was energetic, charismatic and people were drawn to him. He loved sports, was a "Bama" fan and he loved his family.
As the Thomas family remembers Nathan’s life and legacy, they are comforted by the many treasured moments shared together and the enduring impact of his love.
Nathan Ray Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will be held dear in the hearts of his family and those whose lives he touched.
