Funeral service for Melvin Eugene 'Gene' Clayton, 87, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Phillip Wigley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Clayton passed away Monday, April 21st, 2025.  He was born June 5, 1937 to Walter Columbus & Manilla Victoria Campbell Clayton.  Gene loved fishing and hunting,  but especially enjoyed flea markets and thrift stores.  He loved tinkering with bicycles and was an all around collector.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Pam Thompson; brothers, Russell, Hulett, O.D., Leslie, Aaron Clayton; sister, Sue Clayton Staggs.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elaine Clayton; sons, Mike Clayton, Perry (Sharon) Clayton;daughter, Mary (Jeff) Pilgrim; grandchildren, Matthew (Indura) Clayton, Joshua (Brandy) Clayton, David (Charlie) Borella, Lindsey Guy (Michael Roberts), Sarah Hinkle, Jonathan (Amanda) Gilliland, Jake (Emily) Gilliland; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
