Mayme "Louise" Tweed, age 87, of Cullman, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at her residence.
Louise was born in Shelton Laurel, North Carolina on May 23, 1937 to Prelon Ray and Coza (Cozy) Chandler Ray. She graduated from White Rock High School. She then moved to Anderson, Indiana in 1964. She worked at Delco Remy (General Motors) until she moved to Cullman, Alabama in 1976. She worked at the Elks Lodge as the kitchen manager and then later at the Holiday Inn in Good Hope.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Tweed; her second husband, William (Bill) DeBruhl; brother, Tommy Ray; brother and sister-in-law, Amos and Fay Ray; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Barnabus Shelton and son in law, Brent Denson.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Cheryl) Tweed; daughter, Lynne Denson; granddaughters, Kaleigh Tweed (Brett Vincent), Katie (McKinley) Jones; grandson, Kyle (Erin) Tweed; great-grandchildren, Finnegan, Ellie and Forrest Tweed; Maci and Molly Jones; as well as three nieces and several great nieces and great nephews; and special caretaker, Tina Lewis.
Louise was known as a great cook who loved cooking big meals and feeding visiting family and guests. She was an avid reader and always had a book in her hand, especially when she would retire for the evening. The joys of her life were her kids, grandkids and especially, her great grandkids.
Per her request, she will be cremated and laid to rest in the family cemetery in North Carolina. She also requested that there not be a visitation or service, but a celebration luncheon to be held at a future date.
