Funeral service for Mary Nell Johns, 85, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 19th, 2026 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Bro. Stanley Dye and Bro. Etsel Riddle officiating.

Mrs. Johns passed away Monday, August 17th, 2016 at her residence. She was born August 28, 1940 to Herman and Lillian Federer Keese. She was a long time member of Northside Baptist, Greater Vision and Logan Baptist Church. Mary Nell had a career for many years with R.E. Garrison Trucking Company, McGriff Transportation, Thompson Law Firm, St. Bernard College Business Office, and in 1996 she and Sam opened the Angler Seafood House Restaurant in Trimble, Alabama. They operated it for eight years. Her greatest joy was being Granny and watching the grands and great-grands in every sporting and academic challenge sitting on the sidelines loudly cheering for them There will be many wonderful memories by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, June Keese Nelson and Donna Keese Calvert; brother, George Keese; daughter, Mary Johns Bates; son-in-law, Terry Bates.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Samuel W. Johns; daughter, Lola Johns (Greg) Ponder; grandchildren, Paige Ponder (James) Collett, Bradley (Brandy) Ponder; great-grandchildren, Caroline & Case Collett. Sipsey & Nanalee Ponder.
