Obituary

There will be a Memorial Graveside Service for Lennes Mae Cheatham, age 76, of Berlin, AL, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Zion Grove Cemetery in Holly Pond, AL.  Ms. Cheatham passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.

Ms. Cheatham was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Wesley and Etta Mae Thomas; her husband of 55 years, Joe Neil Cheatham; sisters, Lucille (Larry) Shamblee, Jeraldine (Arvil) Stone; and brother G.W. Thomas.

Ms. Cheatham is survived by her children, Kelvin Cheatham, Charlie (Chris) Cheatham, and Mandy (Tavares) Turner; her grandchildren, Whitney Cheatham, Austin Turner, Bryceson Turner, Cainen Turner, and Drakelin Turner; great-grandchildren, Kyler Donaldson, and Bennett Donaldson.  Ms. Cheatham was fortunate to have a large family who cared for her dearly.

She is also survived by siblings, which include, Billy Ray Thomas, Katherine Vanzandt, Patricia Stidham, Debra Stanley, Darwin (Brenda) Thomas, Kenneth (Penny) Thomas, and Annette (Calvin) Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Lennes Mae was a strong woman who was dedicated to her family.  She showed kindness and selflessness, despite the challenges she faced.  She was always there to uplift those around her.  She will be deeply missed by many, but we take comfort in knowing that she is now free from pain and reunited with Joe and all of her loved ones in Heaven.
