Kenneth Wayne Smitherman, 81, of Hanceville passed away on August 6, 2025, at Woodland Village Nursing Home. There are no services planned at this time.

Mr. Smitherman was born on February 11, 1944, to parents, Henry and Annie Leach Smitherman of Bessemer, Al. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from Silgan Containers of Birmingham. Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid gardener. He was a former member of Elm Bluff Hunting Club in Selma, Al. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Smitherman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Curtis and Donald; sisters, Annette, Dorthy and Margaret.

He is survived by his wife Catherine LaRussa Smitherman; daughters, Shelly (Kerry) Stallings and Leigh Ann (Tracy) McKay; grandsons, Ricky (Misty) Black, Cody (Britany) Black, Teague (Ace) McKay; great-grandsons, Blake and Christian Black; sister, Pat (Jim) Pendergrass; and a host of family and friends.
