Funeral service for Judith Ann Bates, 82, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m., Friday, August 25th, 2023 at Bethsadia Baptist Church, Rev. Truman Davis officiating.  The body will lie in state at the church from 12-1 prior to the service.  The visitation for Mrs. Bates will be Thursday evening at Cullman Funeral Home from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

On August 22, 2023, Judith "Judy" Ann Bates went to be with her Lord..  She was born January 24, 1941 to James Harvey & Lola Josephine Simonton Cobbs. She was a loving wife, mom,  and grandmother.  She was a faithful and long time member of Bethsadia Baptist Church for over 40 years.  She served in numerous positions teaching and sharing the Word of God. She was an active supporter of Samaritan's Purse and other charities supporting kids.  Her main goal in life was to bring kindness and love to everyone she knew or met.  She succeeded.  She will be truly missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewitt Bates; brother, Harvey Cobbs; nephew, David Cobbs; grandchildren, Heather Bates, Alexandria Bates.

Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Debbie) Bates, Brian (Sarah) Bates; daughter, Denise (Jim) Phillips; sister-in-law, Joyce Cobbs; niece, Kelly Sue Cobbs; nephew, Kevin (Stacie) Cobbs; great nieces and nephew, Gracie, Hannah & Caden Cobbs; grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Gorham, Jake (Mandi) Phillips, Mark (Katie Jo) Bates, Dustin Venz, Brent Mitchell (Lenae) Bates, Ella Bates, Colt Bates; great-grandchildren, Jacy Gorham, Jayla Gorham, Jaron Gorham, Cameron Phillips, Chase Phillips, Aiden Jimenez, Witt Bates, Matthew Venz, Evelyn Bates, Bryce Bates; family and friends.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
