Joseph David Johnston, age 71, of Vinemont, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at his residence.  There are no services planned at this time.

Joseph was born to Joseph Hardy Johnston and Annie Lou Tolbert Johnston on July 22, 1953.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Johnston; sisters, Linda, and Carolyn.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Powell Johnston; sons, Jason Johnston, Kenneth McNeely (Sherry), and Thomas Gartside (Patricia); daughters, Elisha Mason (Johnny), Elizabeth Lamb; sisters, Diane Wright (Jeff), and Marsha; grandchildren, Austin Gartside (Lexi), Timothy Gartside, Breanna Burrow (Jacob), Brittanie Garcia (Alex), Rebecca Holloway, Elisa Shay Lamb, Natalie Lamb, Paytan Lamb; three great-grandchildren, Ashur Burrow, Alex Garcia, and Mateo Garcia.

Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country proudly.  He was a retired truckdriver and loved his family very much.  He will be very missed.
