John Tillman Newman, Jr. passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.  There are no services planned at this time.

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.

Mr. Newman was born March 15, 1944, to John Tillman Newman, Sr. and Grace Newman.

He is preceded in death by his father, his stepfather, Arnold Brown; wife, Grace Brown; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lona Newman; his sons, Heath Newman (Alesia), David Brand, Jr., Donnie Newman, and Scottie Lee Brand; daughters, Lisa Russell (Dustin), and Tamara Rose Brand; grandchildren, Hannah Rae Russell, Augustus Russell, Chase Newman, Braxton Newman, Adonis Hinkle, Bailey David Brand, Christopher Eli Thomason, Ashlyn Jane Thomason.

John enjoyed his career as an over the road truck driver and traveled all over the country.  After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Family remembers him as a good, kind man.
