Obituary

Funeral services for Reverend Jimmy D. Baker will be held at Cullman Funeral Home on Tuesday June 16, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and burial at Simcoe Baptist Cemetery.Reverend Jimmy D. Baker passed away at his home surrounded by his family on June 13, 2026. He was born on April 29, 1947 in East Tallassee, Alabama to Azell and Ineree Baker. Jimmy grew up in Dadeville, Alabama where he met the love of his life, Sandra Easterwood. They were married in August of 1964 and were devoted to each other for almost 62 years. They have three daughters: Donna Sears, Brenda Thompson, and Teresa England.Jimmy was ordained as a Minister in 1981. He pastored three churches before moving to Cullman in 1985 where he pastored at Simcoe Baptist Church until his retirement in 2022 due to his declining health. In 1998 he was recognized as Alabama Baptist Minister of the Year. During the 41 years he pastored, he had the honor of leading many people to Christ. He spent his life doing his best to honor the Lord.Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Azell and Ineree Baker, his brother, Bobby Jack Baker, and his son-in-law, Darian Sears.He is survived by his wife, Sandra Baker, who lovingly cared for him during his battle with Parkinson’s Disease for the last 12 years. She never left his side and has been a true example of unconditional love. Jimmy is also survived by his daughters, Donna Sears, Brenda Thompson (Matt), and Teresa England; grandchildren, Caitlin Chambers (Andy), Brianna McClure (Josh), Kelsey Nichols (Cody), Kristin Kelso, Alex England, and Jeremiah Thompson (Bailey); great grandchildren, Ella, Paxleigh, Emersyn, Waylon, Ansleigh, and Eastyn.
