Funeral service for Gilbert Jerrell Hinkle, age 82, of Cullman, will be Friday, November 29, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Jerrell was born on August 22, 1942, to Gilbert C. and Vera Harper Hinkle.  He passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Woodland Village Rehab and Health Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wendy Thornton; son in law, Christopher Thornton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patsy; two sons, Darren Hinkle (Angie), and Joey Hinkle (Becky); one brother, Larry Hinkle; grandchildren, Colby Hinkle, Callie Thornton-Sparks (Ethan), Lucas Thornton, Karlie Hinkle, bonus granddaughter, Danica Thornton; "grandson", Christian Harbison; great-niece, Christina Harbison; and a host of family and friends.

Jerrell was a dedicated and hard worker.  He retired from American Proteins after twenty-five years of employment there.  He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, gardening, and growing flowers.  He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren more than life itself, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
