Gerald Jude Sentilles, age 76, of Arley, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at his residence.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Mr. Sentilles' family.

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.

Gerald was born December 17, 1947, to Francis Dennis Sentilles and Emily Truxillo Sentilles in Cottonport, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Arthur "Rusty" Babin, and Michael Dugas; sister-in-law, Katherine Acosta.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Myra Sentilles; son, John Dennis Sentilles (Lauren); daughter, Kristen Sentilles Scarborough (Jonathan); one brother, Francis Dennis Sentilles (Laura); one sister, Wanda Sentilles Babin; four grandchildren, Emily Ann Scarborough, Jonathan Luke Scarborough, Charlotte Emma Sentilles, Vivian Claire Sentilles; brothers-in-law, Wayne Dugas (Sue), Terry Dugas (Penny), Kenny Acosta, Ivy Dugas (Desiree); sisters-in-law, Donna Dugas, Vera Sanchez (Eric, Sr.), Sue Wilson Dugas.

Gerald was a humble man and did not seek praise but he was indeed a  fighter and survivor as well.  He was the recipient of a bi-lateral lung transplant in 1996 and lived way beyond expectancy, and in fact, thrived.  He is an U.S. Air Force Veteran and served proudly for his country as a Captain.  He retired from Southern Progress in Birmingham as a Computer Engineer and loved spending his remaining years fly fishing on Smith Lake.  His family remembers him as a loyal and giving husband, father, and grandfather.  He will not be forgotten.
