Doris Brown Smothers, 82, of Hanceville, Alabama, passed away May 28, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family.  She was born May 27, 1941, to Clyde & Willie Louise Maddox Brown.  A memorial service will be planned and announced by the family.

Mrs. Smothers was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde & Willie Louise Brown; son, Tony Smothers; brothers, Bill, Ricky, & Joe Brown, Mickey Bryan.

She is survived by 2 sons, David (Tabatha) Smothers, Norman Ray Smothers; daughter-in-law, Kay Smothers Bailey; 2 brothers, Wendell (Sherry) Brown, Kenneth Brown; 4 sisters, Beatrice Bainbridge, Geraldine Scott, Joy (Charlie) Patterson, Mary Lou Rickman; grandchildren, Misty Partain, James Messersmith, Christy Smothers Campbell, Brent Smothers, Kayla Smothers, James Calvin Messersmith; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Cullman County Hospice in memory of Mrs. Smothers.
