Carol Burgess Nail, age 68, of Good Hope, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Carol was born on October 22, 1955, to James Lewis and Anita Uginia Franklin Burgess, at the Panama Canal Zone Naval Base.

Carol was a nurse for twenty-five years.  She cared for her patients like they were part of her family.  After nursing, she was co-owner of a medical supply company for fifteen years.  She loved helping and taking care of people.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anita Burgess; grandparents, Richard and Rhoda Burgess and Charles and Opal Franklin; brothers, Joseph Burgess and Tim Burgess; sister-in-law, Joy Tidwell Burgess.

Carol, known as Nan to many, is survived by her children, Christie (Charlie) Cheatham, Steven (Joni) Smith, and Megan (William) Sears; grandchildren, Olivia Margaret Smith, Jacie Rain James and Satchel Page Smith; brothers, Robert (Donna) Burgess and Wade Burgess; sisters, Lisa (Michael) Thompson and Cynthia Holmes; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carol will be laid to rest Sunday, September 8, 2024, at a graveside service with family and friends.  She was very special to many people, and she will be greatly missed.
